My late mother's father, H.C.Channon, trained on the No. 113 Course, Officers' School, presumably at RAF Uxbridge (where he was subsequently stationed), May 1942. See fourth from left on Front Row. I know nothing of his actual military service. After the war he was involved in the development of television and radar. He died long before I reached ten; I recollect an imposing, scary figure, who called my elder sister and I, "Fish & Chips". It is on the Channon side of the family that the 'unofficial' connection with the Aclands lies (see:
