ARTICLES (& books) written by Chris

Chris has contributed in many ways to our knowledge of Himalayan flora, its botanical study, cultivation and conservation within an assortment of publications - with many more in the pipe-line, despite the best efforts of corrupt officials, certain horticultural societies and the BBC to silence him! What has gone on over the past few years has certainly discouraged him. He naturally wishes to share his hard-won expertise but there is a danger of this largely going to waste. Since Chris frequently risked his health and at times, life, to secure this knowledge, not to mention sacrificed a large amount financially (he had the capability of holding senior managerial positions, generating substantial accompanying income - so he finds the suggestions he studied Himalayan plants for the money, exploiting others in the process, deeply offensive). Few in the West remotely understand the workings of the Indian sub-continent, whilst most in that part of the world assume every Brit is a multimillionaire. Yes, one can live in Britain as an eccentric on a shoe-string budget. Chris has been out-of-pocket for years, never had a car, using some of the modest funds which came his way after his father died, to pay basic bills - he has always lived frugally. Given poor health accompanied by major pain for much of every single day, motivating himself is tough. He is currently running a year behind. When feeling down, he cannot but ask himself, why bother, just admit defeat. After all, hardly anyone contacts him per year.
